Using iCloud Drive, you can import song sketches to your Mac and take them even further, then share your finished piece on any of your devices.
  2. Jan 19, 2017 GarageBand for iOS 1.4 or later: How to turn off 'Snap to Grid' 'Snap to Grid' can be turned off to get finer control over region and note editing. To turn off 'Snap to Grid,' pinch-zoom to the maximum level in Tracks view or when editing notes in regions.
  3. Oct 30, 2013 I am unable to turn off the grid in Garageband 10, which is causing me major headaches when trying to arrange and edit regions, both Audio and Midi. I am aware of the options in the Edit menu, (snap to grid and alignment guides), which seem to have no effect at all.
  4. Oct 30, 2007  I don't seem to be able to turn off the internal mic on the computer (have gone into sound window in system preferences and see my mobilepre listed and click on it, go to garage band track info and click on real instrument, basic with no effects and it still is recording from the room) Ok, why can't I turn off the stupid internal mic?
  5. Apr 11, 2013 In your Garageband IOS project window, hit the arrow in the top right corner and select ‘My Songs’ from the drop down menu. Hold down on the song you want to transfer to your Mac for a second – you’ll know you’ve done it right when your song icons start to shake – don’t worry, they’re not scared.

Apple on Wednesday released version 1.4 of GarageBand for iOS, bringing a few enhancements to the mobile music production app, the most notable of which being support for third party app Audiobus.

With the new support, GarageBand can record audio piped in from standalone apps supported by Audiobus standard. Audiobus is a third-party iOS app that touts 'app-to-app' streaming of compatible digital instruments like synthesizers and drum kits to other editing apps.
The compatibility will be an added bonus to many music makers that have invested in the Audiobus platform and want to use GarageBand's flavor of multi-track recording. In recent memory, Apple has not allowed such third-party integration with its mobile offerings.
Along with the Audiobus support, Wednesday's update also brings the option to turn off grid snapping and fixes a feedback issue that occurred when a third-party accessory was plugged into an iOS device's headphone jack.
From the release notes:
Play and record music apps supported by Audiobus directly into GarageBand*
• Turn off grid snapping to get finer control over region and note editing
• Fixes an issue that resulted in feedback while connecting 3rd-party audio accessories into the headphone/microphone jack
* Requires iPhone 4S, iPod touch (5th generation), iPad 2 or later. Audiobus requires a separate purchase.

GarageBand v1.4 comes in at 588MB at is available to download from the App Store for $4.99. Audiobus is a 3.9MB download priced at $9.99.

GarageBand from Apple Computer uses audio loops and MIDI loops in Apple Loops format. It can work with Audio Units plug-ins. Apple Macintosh Compatible FireWire and USB interfaces can be used to connect Audio and MIDI instruments to your Mac, and be recorded into GarageBand.

Hi Léonie, thank you for posting a reply to my query. As soon as I pluck up the courage, I will try your suggestion 🙂 . I'm always a bit reluctant to fiddle with parts of a program, the file system, or OS, because I'm not the world's most experienced Mac user, but I have every confidence that what you suggest is harmless, you know what you are talking about, and I guess I can always reinstate the system to it's former state. Meanwhile, thanks again. You'll know as soon as I do whether it's worked!

Kind regards,
